Jamaal R. Boakye

Chair of Governors and chair of Trust, appointed to the governing body byTrust

 

Jamaal R. Boakye is a foundation Governor and has been in post since the school became state funded in 2009. He has no relevant business interests but is interested in education, improving lives, helping people achieve their full potential and science. Sameer Koomson

Vice chair of Governors, appointed by the Trust

 

Sameer Koomson is a foundation Governor and has been in the post since the school became state funded in 2009. He has no relevant or pecuniary business interests. He also does not govern any other educational establishments nor have any relatives connected to the school.

 

 

Abdulmalik Edwards

Foundation Governor, appointed by the Trust

 

Abdulmalik became a foundation governor in March 2014. His grown up children attended the school in its inception. Abdulmalik works as project manager in Central London. He does not govern any other educational establishments and does not have any relatives connected to the school.

 

 

Zafar Razaq

Chair of resources committee / Foundation Governor, appointed by the Trust

 

Zafar Razaq was appointed to the governing body while Iqra was at Gresham Road. He is a foundation Governor and has been in post since the school became state funded, in 2009.

 

He is very passionate about education and helping children to achieve their potential, and until recently, worked for a Children’s Charity.  He is also a keen volunteer and loves working with children and young people at a supplementary school he runs on a Monday evening in Canary Wharf. ‘Becoming a governor is a great learning experience for me, and one which helps me to feel close to the school, community and allows me to give something back.’ He has no other family members or connections relating to the school.

 

 

Omar Urquhart

Foundation Governor, appointed by the Trust

 

Omar Urquhart has been a governor since the last 5 years, and still serves as a Foundation Governor. He has no relevant business or pecuniary interests and is not involved with any other educational establishment other than Brixton Mosque which is a religious institution.

He has no family relationship with other governors or any members of school staff.

 

 

Shuaib McMillan

Foundation Governor, appointed by the Trust

 

Shuaib is a Foundation Governor and also holds a position on the Trust. He was appointed to the governing body by the Trust and has been in post since the school became state funded. He was a former teacher at Iqra school when it was independent. He does not have any relevant business interests and does not govern any other educational establishments. He does have an interest in science, health and education.  He also has no relatives connected to the school.

 

 

 

Ismail Adebayo Babalola

Foundation Governor, appointed by the Trust

 

Ismail has been on the Governing Bodysince Iqra moved into the state sector, first as a parent governor and then as Foundation Governor nominated by the trust for the past few years. He is an entrepreneur, parent and community activist and focuses on parent and community relation.

 

 

Lukmon-Akim Kadara

Foundation Governor, appointed by the Trust
