Learning Adventures – Autumn 1

Autumn 1 News: A Term Full of Sparks and Stories!

What an exciting start to the year it’s been in Year 4! The children have thrown themselves into their learning with enthusiasm and curiosity.

In Science, our topic on Electricity really lit up the classroom! Pupils investigated circuits, switches, and conductors, showing fantastic teamwork and problem-solving skills. A real highlight was our class assembly, where the children confidently shared their knowledge with the whole school. We also enjoyed a brilliant trip to the Science Museum, where hands-on exhibits helped us see electricity in action — it truly sparked their imaginations!

In English, we dived into the modern classic The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. The children produced some wonderful descriptive writing, exploring powerful vocabulary and vivid imagery as they retold moments from the story. We were so proud of how creatively they brought the Iron Man to life through their words and ideas.

It’s been a term full of energy, creativity, and curiosity — and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for Autumn 2!
