Reception Summer 1

Literacy

This term, our literacy learning will be centered around the traditional tale The Gingerbread Man. This engaging and well-loved story will serve as a rich foundation for a wide range of interactive, creative, and exploratory activities designed to enhance children's reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
Through close reading and repeated retelling of the story, children will develop important early literacy skills such as story sequencing, character analysis, and understanding narrative structure. They will be encouraged to join in with repeated refrains, predict key events, and explore the rhythmic and repetitive nature of the language used in the text.

Math's:

This term, our focus will be on the exploration of key mathematical concepts, including 2D shapes. 3D shapes, counting on to add, counting forwards and backwards, counting to 20 and doubling. Throughout the term, children will be encouraged to use mathematical vocabulary and apply their learning to real-life scenarios. Through collaborative problem-solving, games, and activities, they will develop critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of these essential mathematical concepts.
