Newsletter Autumn Term

 Welcome Back and Welcome 2026!

Another term has flown by and, as ever, so much seems to have taken place at school.

In this letter, we'll revisit a few of the recent highlights as well as looking forward to a new term as we fast approach the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Arabic Parents' Evening

It was good to see so many parents attend and hear an update from Ust. Kasujja on how their child is progressing under his tutelage.

Bikeability

Well done to the pupils in year 6, nearly all of whom passed their level 1 or 2 Bikeability Training when we were visited by the Lambeth Bikeability team in December.

 Welcome Ust. Yahya

Year 3 welcome our newest teacher, Ustadah Yahya who has already familiarised herself with our year 3 schemes of learning and, of course, the children who were all excited to meet their new teacher.

Year 1 Assembly

We were treated to a wonderful assembly by our year 1 class in December. Somehow they managed to combine the wondours of colour, poetry and Allah into an enchanting production. Those parents who were able to attend were delighted by the occasion, as were the staff and children from the whole school.

Year 2 Battersea Park

On the 8th December, it was the turn of Year 2 to venture out, this time to the leafy confines of Battersea Park.

Year 2 explored the essential needs of animals and how their natural habitats support these needs. They found out that all living things (animals, including humans) need food, water and air in order to survive. They discussed the different type of animals you can find at the zoo including Snakes, Rabbits, Pigs, Cows, Chickens and more!

Association of Muslim Schools

Iqra Primary School was proud to host around 20 representatives from AMS. One of the lovely aspects of our faith is the way in which, as educators, we are always keen to celebrate our successes as well as learn from and support each other. The school received positive feedback from the day. Alhamdulillah.

 Class Learning Pages

If you are interested to find out what your child will be studying this term please do take a look at their dedicated class page on this website. This will give you a brief resume of the key subjects for this term's topics and you will find a fuller, more detailed curriculum outline on the tab called 'Learning' which you will see at the top of this page.

Year 4 Thames River Trip

As a part of their geography studies, year 4 children took a first hand look at the river Thames, such a key part of London's past and present. In their geography lessons they have been answering such questions as:

  • What is a river?
  1. How does a river change along its course?  What work does a river do?
  2. Where are the main rivers of the UK?
  3. What causes a flood? How do floods affect people and the environment?

Science Museum Years 5 & 6

London has some of the finest museums in the world and one we particularly enjoy visiting is the Science Museum.

In December both of our upper key stage 2 classes visited and, as ever, represented their school admirably and enjoyed a fun packed day.
