On 5th November, our School Councillors had the opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament, accompanied by Headteacher Humaira Saleem and Councillor Linda Bray.

This is a now annual visit for us and reaffirms our commitment to British Values and the importance of Democracy. During the visit our children were able to learn so much about:
- the work of UK Parliament and its relevance today
- how the working spaces are used
- how constituents can get involved and engage with the democratic process
- the dramatic history of the Palace of Westminster
The children visited Chambers of both Houses, the State Rooms in the House of Lords, Central Lobby, St Stephen’s Hall and Westminster Hall.

One of the aspects of our democratic system is the ability for protestors to gather outside Parliament to make their point. Here, our children met a group who are concerned about climate change.
