Year 2 Autumn 1 News

Year 2 News

Year 2 really enjoyed the “Muffin Don’t Get Squished!” Road Safety Workshop. We met Muffin the mascot, who helped us learn how to stay safe near roads in a fun and memorable way. The children joined in with songs, actions, and discussions about crossing the road safely, wearing bright clothes, and being aware of traffic. Everyone had a fantastic time while learning important safety rules to help Muffin — and themselves — stay safe and not get squished!

Year 2 confidently led an assembly on The Great Fire of London, sharing what they’ve learned and speaking clearly in front of everyone. They did a fantastic job!

We successfully explored How to Find Gold by Viviane Schwarz in English. Through this imaginative story, we developed our storytelling skills and creativity. The children enjoyed writing in role, creating character and setting descriptions as well as producing instructions, free verse poetry, and exciting adventure tales. They showed great courage, determination, and teamwork—just like Anna and Crocodile!

In DT, Year 2 have designed and made their own hand puppets. The children learned how to draw and label their designs, practised basic sewing skills, and used templates to cut and join fabric pieces. They decorated their puppets creatively and shared their finished work with pride. Everyone reflected thoughtfully on what went well and how they could make their designs even better next time.

Excellent work Year 2!
