Year 5

Welcome to Year 5 at IQRA Primary! In this year, your child will build on their learning from Year 4 and develop stronger skills in reading, writing, maths, and science. We focus on helping pupils become confident learners who can explain their thinking, work collaboratively, and take pride in completing challenging tasks.

One of the highlights of the year is an Exciting trip to the Science Museum. This visit supports our science and topic work by encouraging children to explore real exhibits, ask questions, and make connections between what they learn in class and the wider world. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for children to practise observation, note-taking, and respectful behaviour in a public place.

We will also be exploring space, using age-appropriate resources and engaging activities to spark curiosity. Through stories, experiments, and guided discussions, pupils will learn about key ideas such as planets, stars, and how we study the universe. Please encourage your child to share what they discover at home and to ask questions—curiosity is a big part of learning in Year 5.
