Year 5 Launch Their New Class Novel at the London Eye!
Year 5 recently enjoyed a fantastic visit to the iconic London Eye to begin their exciting new class novel, The London Eye Mystery by Siobhan Dowd.
In a truly special moment, the children started reading the book for the very first time while visiting the real setting of the story itself. Being at the London Eye helped bring the opening chapters to life and filled the children with excitement and curiosity about the mystery ahead.
As they travelled high above the city, pupils spotted famous landmarks including Big Ben, the River Thames and many other well-known sights across London. The experience helped the children imagine the setting of the story and inspired lots of thoughtful discussions, predictions and questions about what might happen next.
Throughout the day, Year 5 showed fantastic behaviour, enthusiasm and teamwork. They represented the school beautifully and fully embraced the opportunity to learn outside the classroom.
Here is what some of the pupils had to say about the trip:
💬 “Visiting the London Eye made the story feel real and helped me imagine the characters much better!”
💬 “I loved starting the book at the actual London Eye because it made the mystery feel exciting straight away.”
💬 “My favourite part was spotting landmarks from the top and thinking about what might happen next in the story.”
💬 “The trip made me really excited to keep reading the book and solve the mystery!”
💬 “It was amazing to read the first chapter while being at the place where the story happens.”
This memorable experience was the perfect way to inspire a love of reading and immerse Year 5 in their new learning journey.
Well done, Year 5 — your mystery adventure has only just begun! 🌟
