Year 5 Raise Their Voices for Justice

Our Year 5 children took part in an inspiring community event at St George’s Cathedral on Tuesday 21st October, joining hundreds of leaders from across South London for the South London Citizens Assembly.

The assembly brought together schools, faith groups and community organisations to celebrate progress in key areas that affect our community:

  • Ensuring fair and affordable housing for all

  • Promoting the real Living Wage for workers

  • Supporting justice and dignity for migrants

These important themes link closely to our school values of fairness, kindness and respect. Year 5 spent time learning about these issues and reflecting on how people can work together to build stronger, fairer communities.

In preparation for the event, Year 5 wrote and composed their very own original song, “One Voice, One Light,” to advocate for these issues. Their message was simple but powerful: when we stand together, we can make change.

In a truly unforgettable moment, our pupils performed their song on stage in front of nearly 1,000 people inside the cathedral. Their confidence, creativity and teamwork shone through, and their message inspired everyone in the audience.

We are so delighted with our Year 5 pupils for their passion, courage and sense of justice. They represented our school beautifully and showed how powerful young voices can be when they come together for a shared purpose.

Fantastic work Year 5! You made us all super proud!!! 🌟
