Year 6 Science Investigation
This term in science, Year 6 investigated the question: What conditions are needed for mould to grow? They carried out a fair test using two slices of bread. One slice was damp, covered in cling film and placed in a cupboard, while the other slice was dry, also covered in cling film and left for the same amount of time. This allowed Year 6 to carefully compare the different conditions.
Over the week, Year 6 checked the bread daily, making detailed observations. They drew what the bread looked like on different days, wrote brief descriptions of the changes they noticed, and recorded questions that arose during the investigation in their science books. Year 6 discovered that mould grew on the damp bread but not on the dry bread, helping them to understand that moisture is an important condition for mould growth.
