Year Five's Busy Term!

Year five have had an amazing half term - we've visited the British Museum to look at artefacts from Baghdad 900 AD (which links to our History topic on Islamic Civilisation and our topic on Islamic Art). Children were immersed in sketching the geometric designs and calligraphy. We had interesting discussions on who may have used the artefacts and discussed which patterns we recognised from our own lives today.

In Science, we have been investigating how to separate mixtures. We learnt about filtration and how variables affected the outcome. We had a variety of results, and we were very interested in finding out and discussing why our filtrates were so many different shades!
